It has been phenomenally successful <br />because our ordinances take into account the problems that developers have and are more <br />workable. He believed some of our best supporters throughout the state are developers. <br />Chairman Tippin reminded them this is a small community and as long as people are <br />cautious about conflict and open about it, there should be no problem. He recalled a recent <br />conversation with a Commissioner from another county. At that time, Indian River County <br />had two lawsuits that involved County Commissioners. By contrast, the other county had <br />50 at that time. He maintained the Board had a lot to be thankful for. <br />Chairman Tippin recalled there had been a motion earlier to approve the <br />reappointments. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Adams the Board reappointed the incumbents on <br />pages 100-103 (the Memorandum) on a vote of 4-1 <br />(Commissioner Ginn opposed "at this time"). <br />There was CONSENSUS that Committee Chairmen be encouraged to communicate <br />the importance of attendance to their committee members. <br />Concerning vacancies, Executive Aide to the Board Alice White reported that <br />whenever a vacancy comes up, she has the Press put in an article. There is one vacancy now <br />that has been reported twice in the newspaper and there has been no response. <br />Commissioner Ginn asked if her appointment on the Board of Zoning Adjustment had <br />to be from her district. County Attorney Vitunac checked the ordinance and advised that she <br />could appoint someone from outside her district if she wished. <br />14A SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL DISTRICT <br />The Chairman announced that immediately upon adjournment the Board would <br />reconvene sitting as the Board of Commissioners of the Solid Waste Disposal District. <br />Those Minutes are being prepared separately. <br />45 <br />January 6, 1998 <br />BOOK 104 FAGE 49 <br />
