Chairman Tippin noted that some of these defendants are brought from other counties <br />and the County has no choice but to pay for these examinations. <br />Assistant County Attorney O'Brien stated that their office does challenge some of the <br />charges from time to time, but Dr. Rifidn's fees are typical. He also noted that the County <br />does not pay for Baker Act charges. <br />Commissioner Macht commended legal staff for saving the County a great deal of <br />money by challenging some of these. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Adams, the Board <br />unanimously accepted Payments to Vendors of Court <br />Related Costs Report in the total amount of <br />$2,132.79. <br />Z.P. Keller, CLA <br />Legal Assistant - County Attorney's Office <br />DATE: January 28, 1998 <br />RE: Recently Acquired Property - Tax Cancellation <br />The County recently acquired a piece of property and, pursuant to Section 196.28, F.S., the <br />Board of County Commissioners is allowed to cancel and discharge any taxes owed on the <br />portion of the property acquired for public purpose.
