MCCAIN <br />AND STAFFED <br />CAPITAL PROJECT EER <br />BY: <br />DEPARTMENT OF SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: NORTH/COUNTY WASTEWATER INTERCONNECTION <br />FINAL PAY REQUEST AND CHANGE ORDER <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY PROJECT NO. US -95 -2 -1 -DC <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 24, 1997, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners <br />approved a contract with Florida Design Contractors Inc., for the above - <br />referenced project. The project is now complete and the department is <br />prepared to make final payment. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The original contract amount for this project was $522,253.43. The proposed <br />change order is for a deduction of $24,535.59 equating to a final contract <br />price of $497,717.84. The cost reduction is the result of final quantity <br />adjustments and minor re-engineering in the field during construction. The <br />final pay request is in the amount of $52,623.00 and is attached along with a <br />copy of the proposed final change order. A portion of the cost reduction is <br />associated with the (Radio Telemetry Unit) RTU purchase for the main lift <br />station (i.e., $7000.00). At the time of this project's design, we were in <br />the process of changing telemetry systems and instructed the contractors on <br />how to bid this item with the intent of removing it at a later date and <br />purchasing it directly. The direct purchase price is $9,600.00 and will be <br />accomplished by a purchase order. <br />A portion of this contract was for improvements to the County's golf course <br />irrigation system and will be funded by the Public Works Department. The <br />final contract split between Indian River County Utilities and the Public <br />Works Department is as follows: <br />Utilities $478,720.30 <br />Public Works $ 18,997.54 <br />Total Project Cost $497,717.84 <br />*Additional expenditure by the Utilities Department at a cost of $9,600.00 <br />for the RTU, equates to a total project cost to Utilities of $488,320.30. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends approval of the <br />final change order and pay request to Florida Design Contractors, Inc. <br />authorizing Chairman to execute same as presented and issuance of a purchase <br />order to Consolidated Data Systems for $9,600.00 for the RTU purchase. <br />County Administrator Chandler noted that the portion of the project attributable to <br />Sandridge Golf Course will be funded by them. <br />FEBRUARY 10, 1998 <br />-55- f I I- , <br />
