E <br />0 <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED <br />BY Commissioner Eggert, to approve the Sheriff's request to <br />purchase 21 Life Pak 500 Automated External Defibrillators <br />using a State Grant with a County match of $18,637.50. <br />Under discussion, Commissioner Ginn advised that she had requested the additional <br />information to be sure there are safeguards for use of the equipment by someone without <br />paramedic training. She found the information very encouraging and further advised that use <br />of this equipment is covered by the "Good Samaritan" law. <br />Emergency Services Director Doug Wright had the equipment in the Chambers and <br />Firefighter Ray Jones and Paramedic H Rick Villars demonstrated its use. <br />UndersheriffJim Davis believed the Sheriff's Department would be able to save some <br />lives with this equipment. <br />The Vice Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION and the motion <br />passed unanimously (4-0, Chairman Tippin absent) <br />COPY OF EMS MATCHING GRANT APPLICATION IS ON FILE <br />IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />9.B.
