PROCLAMATION - DECLARING MARCH 14, 1998 AS <br />FIGHTING INDIANS MARCHING BAND DAY <br />Chairman Tippin read the following proclamation and presented it to Jim Sammons, <br />Band Director. <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DECLARING MARCH 14,1998 AS <br />FIGHTING INDIANS <br />MARCHING BAND DAY <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County is the home of the Vero Beach High School Fighting <br />Indians Marching Band, also known as the Pride of the Treasure Coast, one of the finest high <br />school marching bands in the State of Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, the Fighting Indians Marching Band has entertained and thrilled our County <br />for years with excellent half-time shows, parade marches and concerts; and <br />WHEREAS, the Band has been invited to march in the Cherry Blossom Parade this Spring <br />in Washington, D.C. and has been authorized by the United States government to present a wreath <br />at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and <br />WHEREAS, the Fighting Indians Marching Band will be representing all of Indian River <br />County at our nation's capital at the parade and at the wreath laying ceremony; and <br />WHEREAS, to promote public awareness ofthis trip and to raise money to fiord it, the Band <br />is hosting a dance on March 14 at the Freshman Learning Center with music provided by WQOL, <br />to which the entire community is invited. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that March 14,1998 is hereby <br />designated as <br />VERO BEACH HIGH SCHOOL FIGHTING INDIANS MARCHING BAND DAY <br />in Indian River County, and the Board wishes the Band members a successful and safe trip to our <br />nation's capital as good will representatives of Indian River County. <br />Adopted this 3 day of March, 1998. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />G , <br />Jo n W.
