Under discussion, Commissioner Ginn questioned the installation of a sidewalk <br />between Sunset and Sunrise, and Public Works Director Jim Davis advised it has already <br />been designed and as soon as the culverts are in it will be completed, possibly by this <br />summer. The Department of Transportation has a current project to do the entire section but <br />is being held up by the installation of the culverts. <br />THE CHARUVIAN CALLED THE QUESTION and <br />the Motion passed unanimously. <br />11.G.2. 66TH AVENUE PAVING AND DRAINAGE <br />IMPROVEMENTS BETWEEN SR -60 AND 12TH STREET - <br />RFP 8049 <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of March 4, 1998: <br />TO: James E. Chandler, <br />County Administrator <br />FROM: James W. Davis, P.E., (' <br />Public Works Director-- � <br />SUBJECT: 66"' Avenue Paving and D�ainage Improvements <br />between SR60 and 12`!' Street - RFP# 8049 - <br />Request for Engineering Services <br />DATE: March 4, 1998 <br />Included in the County's 5 -year Capital Road Improvement Program is <br />the construction of a two lane paved road along 66`!' Avenue between <br />SR60 and Oslo Road. The Phase I and 2 improvement between Oslo <br />Road and 4"' Street are complete. At this time, $50,000 has been <br />budgeted to engineer a one mile section between SR60 and 12°x' <br />Street. <br />The Engineering Dept. currently has over 100 projects that are <br />being performed in-house. Since the -new Indian River Mall has <br />increased the demand for north/south traffic lanes in the South <br />County area, the 66`h Avenue improvements are needed at this time. <br />Also, a new bridge over the Main Relief Canal will be needed. The <br />Alternatives are as follows: <br />Alte_rnat;ve No_ 1 <br />Publish the attached advertisement for Engineering <br />Services (RFP #8049) and begin the process to select an <br />engineering firm to design the project. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Design the project in-house except for the Main Relief <br />Canal Bridge. <br />MARCH 10, 1998 <br />-65- PACE <br />L <br />
