C_ <br />Project Engineer <br />SUBJECT: 43"d Avenue Roadway and Drainage Improvements <br />Between 26th Street and 8t'h Street <br />Amendment No. 4 <br />DATE: May 5, 1998 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Carter Associates, Inc. is under contract with Indian .River County <br />to provide Professional Civil Engineering Services for improvements <br />to 4Y' Avenue from 26th Street to 8' Street. <br />Landscape Architectural Services are needed to satisfy the Boards <br />"expectation guidelines" for a "street treed" roadway segment.along <br />major urban roads that run through developed residential areas. <br />Carter Associates, Inc. will provide the services of Brad Smith <br />Associates, Inc. whose proposal was selected based on their concept <br />being the most congruent with staff expectations and their <br />anticipated fees being among the lowest presented. They will <br />present several schematic design concepts at a public meeting and <br />will apply these concepts to each parcel abutting the roadway, as <br />directed by staff upon coordination/negotiation with the property <br />owners. The total compensation for these tasks is to be a lump sum <br />amount of $56,500.00. <br />Off-site Stormwater Management Design Services have been provided <br />by not -to -exceed allowances. Those fees have been exhausted. <br />Additional design work is needed to complete the design of the <br />South Lake in coordination with the Unity Center, and to resolve <br />the SJRWMD comments. The total compensation for these tasks is to <br />be a not -to -exceed amount of $9,500.00. <br />The total compensation for Amendment No. 4 is to be $66,000.00 <br />This added to the current contract of $306,300.00 results in a new <br />contract amount of $372,300.00 <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends that the Board authorize the Chairman to sign the <br />attached Amendment No. 4 in the amount of $66,000.00. <br />Funding is from Account 101-155-541-067.47 <br />ATTACHMENT <br />Amendment No. 4 <br />May 12, 1998 <br />22 <br />
