E,01"% - 0 �? FAGE <br />Under discussion, Vice Chairman Macht knew of the Douglas School but did not <br />know of the relationship to Frederick Douglass. He was a great admirer of Frederick <br />Douglass and was a collector of his writings and speeches. He felt he was one of the most <br />remarkable men in the history of the human race, yet so little known. <br />Commissioner Adams had learned some of the history of the school and the man <br />recently from Catherine Wilson at the school. She asked if Vice Chairman Macht would be <br />willing to share some of his collection. <br />Vice Chairman Macht advised that he would bring in some of the literature. He had <br />visited Mr. Douglass' home in Washington, D.C. and gave some history on Mr. Douglass. <br />The Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION and the motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />13.C.2. COMMISSIONER ADAMS - 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS <br />Commissioner Adams advised that a letter had been received from the Lions Club of <br />Sebastian requesting the donation of $2,500 toward the 4' of July fireworks display as has <br />been done in the past. <br />Vice Chairman Macht reminded that has always been coupled with a similar donation <br />to the City of Vero Beach for the same purpose. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously approved a <br />donation in the amount of $2,500 each for 4' of July fireworks <br />display to the Cities of Sebastian and Vero Beach. <br />13-C-3. COMMISSIONERADAMS- UPDA TE ONGUNRANGE <br />(title inserted for record-keeping purposes <br />Commissioner Adams announced that she had received notification yesterday that the <br />gun range has finally received the final Federal approval. <br />May 12, 1998 <br />
