DeBlois; iUCP <br />Chief, Environmental Planning <br />DATE: October 12, 1998 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Amendment to a Lease Agreement with the State for the County <br />to Manage the Irwin Tract as Part of the Jungle Trail Conservation Area <br />It is requested that the information herein presented be given formal consideration by the Board of County <br />Commissioners at its regular meeting of October 20, 1998. <br />In October, 1996, the ±103 acre Cairns tract (on Jungle Trail south of Sea Oaks development) was acquired <br />by the County and the State for conservation purposes. Subsequently, on January 14, 1997, the Board of <br />County Commissioners approved a 50 year lease agreement with the State (Board of Trustees of the Internal <br />Improvement Fund) for the County to management the property, which is titled to the State (see attached <br />minutes). <br />In April, 1998, the County and the State purchased the ±8 acre Irwin tract, tocatea along me oceidi north of <br />Baytree development and contiguous to the Cairns tract. The combined Cairns and Irwin tracts are referred <br />to as the Jungle Trail Conservation Area (JTCA). <br />October 20, 1998 <br />26 <br />
