• <br />After general discussion, Commissioner Macht noted that all changes will be brought <br />to a public meeting and that there is no lack of support for public input. <br />Commissioner Ginn believed that, in view of the proposed expenditures of $500,000 <br />next year and $750,000 thereafter, it should be brought before the public prior to a vote, <br />especially as the commissioners are not allowed to discuss the topic except in public. <br />Chairman Tippin noted that the MOTION DIES FOR LACK OF A SECOND. <br />NO FURTHER ACTION TAKEN. <br />13.E. FLORIDA <br />GREENWAYS AND TRAILS SEED GRANT PROGRAM <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of November 301 1998: <br />November 30, 1998 <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: John Tippin, Chairman <br />FROM: Ruth Stanbridge, Commissioner <br />SUBJECT: Grant opportunity from the Florida Greenways and Trails Seed Grants Program <br />The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Office of Greenways and Trails <br />has announced their grants program with funding up to $5,000.00 for support activities <br />associated with greenways and trails. Indian River County has a number of projects that can be <br />related to greenways and can be finded through this program. I would like to work with staff in <br />obtaining the application and guidelines and following through with a grant request. <br />Commissioner Stanbridge asked that staff be authorized to investigate the grant and <br />apply for up to $5,000 in grant monies.
