Holmen -McKenna' <br />Mayor <br />Commissioner Ginn stated that the Board of County Commissioners has received <br />requests from both the City of Vero Beach and Indian River Shores for a reappraisal of the <br />Lost Tree Islands property and now Indian River Shores has asked for a moratorium on <br />LAAC purchases. She suggested that the Board have a moratorium for three months on <br />LAAC purchases and respond to Indian River Shores. <br />Vice Chairman Adams saw no reason for a moratorium and did not understand the <br />rationale to stop everything just for one issue. She could not support such a suggestion at <br />this time. <br />Chairman Macht advised that a response had already been sent by him to Indian River <br />Shores in which he indicated there was no need to institute such a moratorium since the <br />Board was still waiting for various responses in this complex issue. <br />Commissioner Ginn expressed her concern about letters that go out without copying <br />all Commissioners; she had not received a copy of the letter sent by Chairman Macht. <br />Commissioner Stanbridge spoke of numerous projects still on the LAAC list and felt <br />the Board needed to move forward with those important acquisitions, especially purchase of <br />wetland properties adjacent to the Indian River Lagoon which can be used for mitigation <br />banking. <br />Chairman Macht felt LAAC purchases and the Lost Tree Islands were committee <br />matters and should go through the committee first.
