PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING FEBRUARY S THROUGH FEBRUARY 15, <br />1999 - "SHRINER CRUSADE TO HELP CRIPPLED CHILDRENDRIVE" <br />The Chairman read the following Proclamation: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING FEBRUARY 5 THROUGH FEBRUARY 15, 1999 <br />AS "SHRINER CRUSADE TO HELP CRIPPLED <br />CHILDREN DRIVE" IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />WHEREAS, patients from the counties of Indian River, Martin, <br />St. Lucie, Palm Beach and Okeechobee have,through the Shriner <br />Hospitals for Crippled Children, been meeting their needs for <br />orthopedic and burn care; and <br />WHEREAS, the Amara Temple is a part of 720,000 Shriners <br />throughout North America that support 19 orthopedic hospitals and 3 <br />burn institutes that provide specialized expert care for needy <br />children -up to their 18th birthday absolutely FREE; and <br />WHEREAS, this large group of Shriners of North America made <br />this commitment over 70 years ago to help needy crippled and burned <br />victims get the expert long term care they need to have a chance <br />for a healthy normal productive life; and <br />WHEREAS, it is recognized that in order to continue this great <br />service and tradition of caring, it is necessary to enlist the help <br />and support of individuals of the community, and ask them to take a <br />moment to learn more about these hospitals and burn care units so <br />that the public can refer a child needing such services to us; and <br />WHEREAS, this request for public support is made only once a <br />year. A free newspaper is given to all, telling of the Shriners' <br />Crusade to help these needy children: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, HE IT PROCLAIINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that February 5 <br />through February 15, 1999 be designated as <br />SHRINERS CRUSADE TO HELP CRIPPLED CHILDREN DRIVE <br />in Indian River County, and the Board further urges all citizens of <br />this county to show their appreciation to the Shriners for their <br />good works both on a local and national level for the benefit of <br />all. <br />Adopted this 2nd day of February, 1999. <br />FEBRUARY 2, 1999 <br />HOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />/L <br />eth R.
