REDUCTION OF FALSE ALARMS <br />Dear Mr. Macht: <br />On Friday, January 15, 1999, representatives from my office were invited to attended a meeting <br />held by the Legislative Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. At this meeting, the proposed <br />alarm reduction ordinance was discussed. The committee gave us the opportunity to share our <br />concerns from a law enforcement perspective, identify the desired goals of the false alarm <br />reduction ordinance; and, in return, we received some excellent feedback from members of the <br />committee. <br />We certainly appreciate the opportunity we were given to address the committee and would like <br />to respond to some of their recommendations. We believe that some of the alternatives offered at <br />the meeting can be successfully implemented. As such, we would like to address the following <br />changes to the draft. Noted changes are underlined in the attached draft and are summanzed <br />below: <br />Page 3: SECTION 3. PERMIT REQUIRED; APPLICATION; FEE; <br />TRANSFERABILITY; FALSE STATEMENTS, (B) <br />The annual registration with updated information will still be required for <br />Purposes of maintaining accurate information, but the recurring annual permit fee <br />of $30.00 will be eliminated. Initial permit fee will remain $30.00. <br />Page 9: Section 12.
