Chandler, County Administrator <br />THRU: Joseph Baird, Director, Office of Management & Budget <br />FROM: Beth Jordan, Risk Managed �kf <br />DATE: 23 February 1999 <br />SUBJECT: RFP for Drug/Alcohol Testing Services <br />Staff requests consideration of the following information at the March 3, 1999, regular meeting of <br />the Board of County Commissioners. <br />Back round <br />Staff has prepared a request for proposals (RF F in order to comply with federal drug and alcohol <br />testing requirements for amloyees who hold a commercial driver's license (CDL). In the past, this <br />service has been provided by vendors selected through such a process and, most recently, was <br />conducted as part of the State contract for such services. In an effort to include potential local <br />vendors, we have prepared this RFP. <br />Analysis <br />This RFP will provide for approximately 80 random drug urine tests and 20 random alcohol tests <br />annually, as well as for approximately 25 pre-employment tests and approximately 5 reasonable <br />suspicion tests annually. <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends the Board authorize the RFP for drug and alcohol testing services. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Ginn, the Board <br />unanimously authorized the RFP for drug and <br />alcohol testing services, as recommended by staff.- <br />MARCH <br />taf <br />MARCH 2. 1999 <br />
