• <br />• <br />Commissioner Tippin disagreed and commented that the funding was very carefully <br />analyzed and in no way intended to be a reflection on the Center. The Council felt the <br />request did not fit the regulations. <br />County Attorney Vitunac advised that if the Board feels this would be a legitimate <br />advertising expense, then it would be legal to fund. <br />Commissioner Ginn questioned the Treasure Coast Sports Commission, and <br />Commissioner Adams reminded her that this is a 4 -county group that is authorized by the <br />state to receive funds and promote sporting events such as the Junior Olympics. <br />Commissioner Ginn just wanted to be sure there was no advertising for private <br />enterprise included in the funding. Commissioner Ginn also felt the Cultural Council should <br />be supported by the Arts Committee and believed the County is going way out on a limb to <br />support them at this level. <br />Budget Director Joe Baird noted that $10,000 of the funding is for marketing, $4,750 <br />for a web site, and the rest is for brochures. <br />Commissioner Ginn wanted to be certain that none of the funding would go for <br />salaries and noted that she could not support this. <br />Commissioner Stanbridge asked County Attorney Vitunac if there would be any <br />conflict with her voting on the funding for the Historical Society as she would be writing <br />markers for them. <br />County Attorney Vitunac assured her that as long as she was not receiving personal <br />financial profit from the funding, there would be no conflict. <br />JUNE 19 1999 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Stanbridge, the <br />Board, by a 4-1 vote (Commissioner Tippin <br />opposed), approved allocating an additional $4,000 <br />to the Center for the Arts, Inc. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Tippin, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Adams, the Board, <br />by a 4-1 vote (Commissioner Ginn opposed), <br />approved all other amounts as recommended by the <br />Tourist Development Council. <br />
