BOOK 109 PAGE 5,P36 RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners establish a Complete Count Committee with the following specifications: • The local committee should be called "Indian River County Census 2000 Community Action Committee". • The committee shall serve until June 2000. • Committee shall have at least have eleven members, and members should consist of- - One representative from the Board of County Commissioners — Five leaders from areas of the county with a high percentage of minorities *2 from Gifford area *I from Oslo area *1 from Wabasso area * 1 from Fellsmere area — One -representative from the school board — One representative from the City of -Vero Beach — One representative from the City of Sebastian — One representing local business — One representing local religious communities Community Development Director Bob Keating noted that this will be a state-wide committee and Florida Association of Counties has recommended it be established. He asked that Kay Clem, Supervisor of Elections, be added as a committee member. Chairman Macht suggested that representatives of Indian River Shores and the South Barrier Island be added as representatives for the County's semi-permanent residents. Commissioner Adams felt that a representative from each municipal government should be named, as well as a representative from each of the areas considered to be undercounted. ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by Commissioner Stanbridge, the Board unanimously established the Indian River County Census 2000 CommunityAction Committee to serve until June 2000 as recommended by staff; with the addition of Kay Clem, Supervisor of Elections, and representatives from all 5 municipalities plus South Barrier Island; and appointed Commissioner Caroline Ginn to act as the Board's representative.
