BOOK 109 PAGE 5,P36 <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners establish a Complete Count Committee <br />with the following specifications: <br />• The local committee should be called "Indian River County Census 2000 Community Action <br />Committee". <br />• The committee shall serve until June 2000. <br />• Committee shall have at least have eleven members, and members should consist of- <br />- One representative from the Board of County Commissioners <br />— Five leaders from areas of the county with a high percentage of minorities <br />*2 from Gifford area <br />*I from Oslo area <br />*1 from Wabasso area <br />* 1 from Fellsmere area <br />— One -representative from the school board <br />— One representative from the City of -Vero Beach <br />— One representative from the City of Sebastian <br />— One representing local business <br />— One representing local religious communities <br />Community Development Director Bob Keating noted that this will be a state-wide <br />committee and Florida Association of Counties has recommended it be established. He <br />asked that Kay Clem, Supervisor of Elections, be added as a committee member. <br />Chairman Macht suggested that representatives of Indian River Shores and the South <br />Barrier Island be added as representatives for the County's semi-permanent residents. <br />Commissioner Adams felt that a representative from each municipal government <br />should be named, as well as a representative from each of the areas considered to be <br />undercounted. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Stanbridge, the <br />Board unanimously established the Indian River <br />County Census 2000 CommunityAction Committee <br />to serve until June 2000 as recommended by staff; <br />with the addition of Kay Clem, Supervisor of <br />Elections, and representatives from all 5 <br />municipalities plus South Barrier Island; and <br />appointed Commissioner Caroline Ginn to act as the <br />Board's representative. <br />JUNE 159 1999 <br />
