• <br />The requested zoning is compatible with the surrounding area, and is consistent with the goals, <br />objectives, and policies of the comprehensive plan. Rezoning the site to RS -3 will have no negative <br />impacts on environmental quality or the provision of public facilities and services. The subject <br />property is located in an area deemed suitable for low-density, single-family residential <br />development. The request meets all applicable criteria. For those reasons, staff supports the request. <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners provide direction to staff regarding this <br />county initiated rezoning and direct staff to schedule the second rezoning public hearing for 9:05 <br />a.m., at the regular commission meeting of July 27, 1999. <br />1. "' Rezoning Ordinance <br />Community Development Director Bob Keating reviewed the following special <br />requirements for rezoning requests which are specified by State law in a county -initiated <br />request which involves more than ten acres: the Board must hold two advertised public <br />hearings; one of the public hearings must be after 5:00 p.m. on a weekday, unless four <br />Commissioners vote to conduct that hearing at another time of day; and the second hearing <br />must be held at least ten days after the first hearing and must be advertised at least five days <br />prior to the second hearing. Director Keating the reviewed the information contained in the <br />above memorandum concerning the subject matter. <br />Director Keating then reviewed the information contained in the above memorandum <br />for the subject property. <br />The Commissioners had no questions. <br />The Chairman opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to be heard in <br />this matter.
