Skok, Civil Engineer Ino. <br />SUBJECT: Department of Agriculture, Request for Proposal <br />DATE: July 16, 1999 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />CONSENT AGMA <br />Staff is attempting to meet the requirements for a "Request for Proposal" from the Department of <br />Agriculture and Consumer Services. The Department offers an Urban and Community Forestry <br />(U&CF) Grant Program in which Indian River County could receive a possible $10,000.00 grant for <br />tree planting and beautification projects. One of the requirements is a resolution indicating support <br />for the project. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has sent out "Request for Proposal' (RFP) <br />for their Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program. Indian River County was placed in Region <br />2 (see attachment "J") in which $140,000 is allocated for 17 eounties in the region. The maximum <br />of any one grant is $25,000.00. Staff will be attempting to obtain a grant listed as a Category 2, <br />Demonstration or site specific projectsin which the maximum grant amount is $10,000.00. The grant <br />could be used for the upcoming project CR 512, Phase III (Roseland Road to I-95). Funds may only <br />be used for purchase and planting of trees/palms.
