• <br />WHEREAS, the coast has provided Indian River County with a heritage rich in scenic, cultural and <br />historic qualities; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County is rich in beauty and natural resources; and <br />WHEREAS, clean beaches and water are essential for public health and recreation and economic <br />resource; and <br />"IHEREAS, the proper disposal and recycling of waste is important in protecting and preserving the <br />County's natural resources from accumulated debris which can be potentially injurious to humans, wildlife and <br />marine life; and <br />WHEREAS, the Center for Marine Conservation is sponsoring the 12th Annual Florida Coastal <br />Cleanup on September 18, 1999; and <br />WHEREAS, the Pelican Island Audubon Society is coordinating the Florida Coastal Cleanup in Indian <br />River County, in conjunction with the Keep Indian River Beautiful organization; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board ofCounty Commissioners ofIndianRiver <br />County, Florida hereby proclaim, Saturday, September 18, 1999 as <br />COASTAL CLEANUP DAY <br />in Indian River County.
