Frank Zore, 2044 DeLeon Avenue, President of St. Francis Manor for 25 years,
noted that the Manor has the very lowest rents in the state. The County granted a lease to
the Manor on some adjacent land, contingent on the development of assisted living facilities.
The plans have been completed and the only remaining hindrance is financial. The residents
have such low incomes that they cannot pay enough to cover minimum costs but federal
subsidies are not available to privately owned facilities. He asked the Board to grant an
extension of time to enable them to raise the necessary funding.
Chairman. Macht questioned whether there would be any legal impediment, and
County Attorney Vitunac responded that a new lease could be prepared.
ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams,
SECONDED by Commissioner Ginn, the Board
unanimously directed staff to prepare a new lease
and return to the Board for approval.
9.B.2.
