,T <br />600 K. .� r <br />5.0 PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING MONTH OF OCTOBER, 1999AS <br />NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH <br />Chairman Macht presented the following proclamation to Rick Candler, Chairman of <br />the Indian River County Cultural Council: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER <br />AS NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANI'T'IES MONTH <br />WHEREAS, the arts and humanities enhance and enrich the lives of all Americans; and <br />WHEREAS, the arts and humanities affect every aspect of life in America today including <br />the economy, social problem solving, job creation, education, creativity and community livability, and <br />WHEREAS, a coalition of more than 50 national arts and humanities groups representing <br />over 23,000 cultural organizations and institutions comprise the National Cultural Alliance, which <br />works to increase public awareness and understanding o& and participation in, the humanities and the <br />arts; and <br />WHEREAS, the nation's 23,000 cultural organizations, the National Endowment for the <br />Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute ofMuseum and Library Services, the <br />nation's 3,800 local arts agencies, the arts and humanities councils of the 56 states will be encouraged <br />to participate in the celebration; and <br />WHEREAS, the month of October 1999 has been recognized as National Arts and <br />Humanities Month by National Association of Counties; <br />SEPTEMBER 28, 1999 <br />IRI <br />
