VaKOF f��uc <br />In addition, the State included $229,400 in the amendment for design and <br />permitting costs associated with the County Beach Preservation Plan. These <br />funds will be used to prepare the design documents necessary for the State <br />and Federal permit applications to construct the proposed beach nourishment <br />projects. Cost contributions will be 50$ County ($229,400) and 50% State <br />($229,000). A separate contract for the design and permitting work will be <br />developed and presented to the Board at a later date. <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Approve the attached professional services agreement to complete <br />the HCP and Section 10 permit application and approve the <br />amendment to the state contract. <br />County Contribution (25%) $ 40,285 <br />State Contribution (75%) $120,855 <br />Total Cost $161,140 <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Deny the professional services agreement and re -negotiate the <br />contract. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends Alternative No.1 whereby the professional services agreement <br />with Ecological Associates, Inc., Jensen Beach, FL. and amendment to DEP <br />contract No. 98IR1 are approved. The professional services agreement fee <br />totals $161,140 with County obligation of $40,285 and State obligation of <br />$120,855. Funding to be from Beach Restoration Fund 128. <br />ATTACHMENT <br />Professional Services Agreement <br />Amendment to DEP Contract No. 98IR1 <br />Commissioner Grin questioned and was very concerned about the schedule for <br />completion of the project for six months (on page 7 of the agreement) while in Section XVI, <br />Duration of Agreement, it states the Agreement is in effect for three years. <br />Mr. Tabar explained that the consultants have six months to prepare and submit <br />documents as completely as possible to U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) and then to <br />finalize the plan. They would remain in the County's service for three years to follow <br />October 12, 1999 <br />38 <br />
