I <br />0 <br />BOOK 1i PA E A <br />Proposed Action: REVISE POLICY <br />The Economic Development Division of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce shall <br />continue to contact businesses, as identified in its marketing plan, to encourage those businesses to <br />consider Indian River County as a possible location. The county's list of targeted industries s 11 <br />ha <br />be the Economic Development Division's guide for the type of businesses to contact. On a quarterly <br />basis, the Economic Development Director of the Chamber of Commerce shall report to the <br />Economic Development Council the number of businesses that were contacted, the type of <br />businesses that were contacted, the number of persons employed by each of the businesses, and the <br />result or actions taken from those contacts. <br />2D!9X— : The county shall continue a relationship with the Jobs and Education Partnership <br />Program and Indian River Community College for quick response to Indian River County employers <br />needing training for existing and prospective employees. <br />Proposed Action: REVISE POLICY <br />The county, the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce, and other economic development <br />groups designated by the Board of County Commissioners shall continue to inform existing and <br />relocating businesses of training programs that are offered by the Indian River Community College, <br />the Jobs and Education Partnership Program, and local high schools. Representatives from these <br />institutions shall be invited to provide an annual report to the Economic Development Council <br />summarizing what type of training assistance was provided to local businesses. <br />Fallcy1.2: As an employer, the county shall employ local residents, use local services, and retain <br />local contractors, whenever possible. <br />Proposed Action: REVISE POLICY <br />As an employer, the county shall notify local residents and local business of any employment or <br />service contract opportunities by advertising job opportunities in the local newspaper and by sending <br />request for proposals to appropriate local businesses. To ensure proper notification, the county's <br />General Services Department shall maintain a list of local businesses anti nnnrrarrn" <br />POUCY 1.14: On an annual basis, the county shall update its Commercial/Industrial Data Source <br />Book. This book consists of planning, zoning, land use, demographic, and other socio-economic <br />information helpful to businesses desiring to relocate. <br />Proposed Action: REVISE POLICY <br />The county shall on a semi-annual basis re-evaluate the size and location of its commercial/industrial <br />nodes. On an annual basis, the county shall update its Commercial/Industrial Data Source Book. <br />This book consists of planning, zoning, and land use information helpful to businesses desiring to <br />relocate- <br />Fn <br />elocate_ <br />Pow I. t 2: The county shall provide adequate infrastructure to areas designated for commercial <br />and industrial development. <br />Proposed Action: DELETE POLICY <br />The action for Policy 1.12 is the same as the action for the <br />OCTOBER 26, 1999 <br />-32- <br />• <br />
