Radke; Economic Development Planner - <br />DATE: December 7, 1999 <br />RE: CONSIDERATION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY'S PARTICIPATION IN <br />FLORIDA'S EXPEDITED PERMITTING PROCESS (PUBLIC WORKSHOP) <br />It is requested that the data herein presented be given formal consideration by the Board of County <br />Commissioners at its regular meeting of December 14, 1999. <br />In October 1999, the county was successful in obtaining a 1999 Department ofManagement Services <br />(DMS) One -Stop Permitting Grant totaling $7,906. Funds from this grant will be used to purchase <br />the necessary equipment and software to develop an official county web site. As part of the <br />qualifying process for this grant, the county must consider participating in Florida's Expedited <br />Permitting Process. <br />In 1997, the "Expedited Permit Review Process" was initiated by the State of Florida to allow <br />significant economic development projects to obtain expedited review of all required state and <br />regional permit applications and, at the option of a participating local government, local permit <br />orders, development of regional impact development orders, and comprehensive plan amendments. <br />DECEMBER 14, 1999 <br />-52- <br />0 <br />
