Adams, Chairman <br />Patty Nugent thanked the Board for the recognition and introduced the gathering of <br />Youth Volunteers, representing a small sampling of the amazing resources in this County. <br />She noted that it is a true honor to represent them today. She then introduced 2 of the <br />recipients of the Volunteer of the Year award, Colleen Heady and Marcos Flores, and <br />commended these exemplary young people who have donated thousands of hours each. <br />Colleen Heady thanked the Board and said it is an honor to speak for each of the 11 <br />through 18 -year-old volunteers. They all believe it is up to them to improve their <br />community. She also expressed their thanks to the community for its continued support of <br />the programs. <br />Marcos Flores also thanked the community partners and noted that without their <br />belief in the value of young people, the Volunteers would not be able to achieve their goals. <br />Kim Weaver acknowledged the efforts of the Cultural Council, the Recreation <br />Department, the School Board, the Substance Abuse Council, and the Gifford Youth <br />programs. <br />JANUARY 18, 2000 <br />-5- y, <br />BOOK [ALE �_' <br />
