BOOK <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Ginn, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Stanbridge, the Board unanimously added the <br />above items to the agenda. <br />5. PROCLAMATIONS AND PRESENTATIONS <br />Chairman Adams read the following proclamation which was accepted with thanks <br />by Sheriff Gary Wheeler: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING FEBRUARY 4, 2000 <br />AS INDIAN RIVER COUNTY SCHOOL <br />CROSSING GUARD APPRECIATION DAY <br />WHEREAS, each and every school day dedicated individuals, whom we call Crossing <br />Guards, spend countless hours assisting our children across busy street intersections as they <br />arrive and depart from school; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County places a top priority on child safety issues and <br />awareness and that education plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of our children and <br />Crossing Guards who are there to assist them during their commute to school; and <br />WHEREAS, we acknowledge that Crossing Guards provide an invaluable service to <br />our comity and they receive little recognition or compensation for their tireless efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, we realize that Crossing Guards often encounter adversarial, dangerous <br />and sometimes hostile attitudes from individuals who are more concerned with their own <br />personal agendas than the safety of school children; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Florida, that Friday, February 4, 2000 be <br />designated as <br />CROSSING GUARD APPREcIATIONDAY <br />and that the Board of County Commissioners extend greetings and best wishes to all Crossing <br />Guards in Indian River County. <br />Dated this 1st day of February, 2000. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Fran B.
