• <br />TO: James E. Chandler, County Administrator <br />FROM: James W. Davis, P.E., Public Works Director - <br />SUBJECT: Final Payment and Release of Retainage - CR512 Bridge Replacements <br />over the Park Lateral Canal and Lateral "U" Canal <br />DATE: January 31, 2000 <br />The replacements of both of the CR512 bridges (across Lat. "U" canal and <br />Park Lateral Canal) are complete. The Engineer -of -Record, Kimley-Horn <br />and Associates, Inc., has certified that the construction of both bridges <br />is substantially in accordance with the contract documents using FDOT <br />design criteria. The original design/build contract cost was $805,000 <br />for final design, permitting, and construction, and $40,600 for <br />preliminary design and program development. The final cost was $844,100 <br />for both phases, which is $1,500 less than the contract price. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />At this time, the design/builder, Zep Construction, Inc., is <br />requesting final payment in the amount of $142,284.42. The <br />alternatives presented are as follows: <br />ALTERNATIVE NO. 1 <br />Accept the project as complete, release final retainage and <br />payment in the amount of $142,284.42. <br />ALTERNATIVE NO. 2 <br />Deny the final payment. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUMINC3 <br />Since all work has been complete and accepted, staff recommends <br />Alternative NO. 1 whereby final payment in the amount of $142,284.42 is <br />granted to Zep Construction. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Stanbridge, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Ginn, the Board <br />unanimously accepted the project as complete and <br />released final retainage and payment in the amount <br />of $142,284.42 to ZEP Construction, as <br />recommended by staff. <br />FEBRUARY 8, 2000 <br />• <br />-41- BOOK JA <br />
