Director k d <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: February 29, 2000 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Renewal of a Class "A" Certificate of Public Convenience and <br />Necessity for Indian River Shores Department of Public Safety to Provide <br />ALS/BLS Prehospital Emergency Medical Services <br />It is respectfully requested the information contained herein be given formal consideration by the <br />Board of County Commissioners at the next scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On April 10, 1998, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners approved an <br />Emergency Medical Services ALS/BLS Class "A" Certificate of Public Convenience and <br />Necessity for the Town of Indian River Shores. This certificate was necessary in order to comply <br />with the Indian River County of Laws and Ordinances as specified in Chapter 304. The certificate <br />was issued for a period of two years and will expire on April 10, 2000. <br />The Town of Indian River Shores has submitted an application for renewal of the certificate. Staff <br />has reviewed the application and certifies that all requirements of Chapter 304 of the County Code <br />have been met, and renewal and issuance of the certificate is justified. <br />As in prior renewals, the service area for this EMS ALS provider would be confined to the <br />municipal limits of the Town of Indian River Shores except when mutual aid assistance is <br />requested. <br />March 7, 2000 <br />68 <br />_I <br />
