Anti DrugAbuse Grant Funding FY2001- Florida Department <br />of Community Affairs - Certific� Participation <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of March 15, 2000: <br />TO: Members of the Board DATE: March 15, 2000 <br />of County Commissioners <br />SUBJECT: STATE FISCAL YEAR 2001 ANTI-DRUG ABUSE GRANT FUNDING <br />CER FICATION QF PARTICIPATION <br />,Y .C. <br />FROM: Kimberly E. Massung, Executive Aide <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Indian River County has been notified by the Florida Department of Community Affairs (FDCA) that $157,777 <br />has been allocated in grant funds for State Fiscal Year 2001, to fund local anti-drug abuse projects. The letter <br />also requested the Board to serve as the coordinating unit of government in applying for the funds. The <br />Substance Abuse Advisory Council will be soliciting for and receiving grant applications as well as evaluating <br />those applications and recommending to the Board what projects to fund and their funding levels. The <br />Substance Abuse Advisory Councirs recommendations will be brought to the Board for approval in May. The <br />grants eleventh year will continue to be funded 75% from the state and 25% from the County. The budgetary <br />impact on the county will not exceed $50,000, especially since staff has requested all matching funds for the <br />20002001 fiscal year to be made by the grant applicants rather than the Board of County Commissioners. <br />The Board of County Commissioners would still have to match the Substance Abuse Council portion since <br />:he grant requirement recommended the Board of County Commissioners set up the council to administer <br />the grant. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the Board accept the invitation to serve as the coordinating unit of government in the <br />FDCA Anti -Drug Abuse act Grant Program and authorize the Board Chairman to sign the Certification of <br />Participation naming Kimberly E.
