DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Brad Smith Associates, Inc. is under contract with Indian River <br />County to provide Professional Design Services for Wabasso Causeway <br />Park Improvements. Within the scope of services in the original <br />Agreement, Brad Smith Associates prepared designs for a sanitary <br />sewer lift station to serve the proposed restroom building. At <br />that time the building was designed on a pile foundation and the <br />lift station was placed on higher ground, with a deep wet well to <br />accommodate an underground sewer line from the building. During <br />the award process, the apparent low -bid contractor, William Glover, <br />Inc., suggested changing the building foundation design to a soil <br />filled stem wall. The BOARD accepted this change and received a <br />credit of $28,284.27. Staff has subsequently determined that the <br />lift station could be conveniently located within the same soil <br />filled foundation. This will result in a substantial reduction of <br />the lift station construction cost and will provide a more easily <br />maintainable facility. <br />Brad Smith Associates has proposed to revise the construction <br />drawings for a lump sum fee of $4,850.00. <br />The total compensation for Amendment No. 2 is to be $4,850.00. <br />This added to the current contract of $63,572.50 results in a new <br />contract amount of $68,422.50. <br />The construction contract was awarded to William Glover, Inc. on <br />February 15, 2000. A request for a Change Order Proposal for a <br />credit will be issued to William Glover, once the revised plans <br />have been prepared. <br />RECOMKENDATIONS AND FMMING <br />Staff recommends that the Board authorize the Chairman to sign the <br />attached Amendment No. 2 in the amount of $4,850.00. <br />Funding is from account #315-210-572-068.09 <br />APRIL 4, 2000 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Grin, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously <br />approved Amendment No. 2 for the Wabasso <br />Causeway Park Improvements Project with Brad <br />Smith Associates, Inc., and authorized the Chairman <br />to execute the Amendment, as recommended by <br />staff. <br />AMENDMENT IS ON FILE IN THE <br />OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />-109- B005 <br />
