BOOK iij PAGE 4�"- <br />Chairman Adams was not comfortable at the present time having the Tax Collector's office <br />responsible for the collection ofthe Tourist Development Tax and suggested that it could be collected <br />by the Clerk's office or maybe even by Utilities Department. <br />the tax. <br />Commissioner Stanbridge added that the clerk's office in several counties successfully collect <br />Vice Chairman Ginn thought there were too many comments on a recent audit report of the <br />Tax Collector's office and she was not convinced that all the problems have been solved. She was <br />willing to go forward with collection by the Clerk or she was willing to wait another year. <br />In response to Chairman Adams' inquiry, Acting County Attorney Terrence P. O'Brien <br />advised that the Board could designate any office to collect the tax. The ordinance could be brought <br />back without a designation and would merely read that the tax would be remitted to and collected <br />by Indian River County. <br />Commissioner Stanbridge requested that the ordinance come back as soon as possible. <br />The date of June 13, 2000 was suggested in order to complete the advertising process and <br />have the matter come back without delay. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED BY Vice <br />Chairman Ginn, the Board unanimously agreed to schedule a public <br />hearing for the proposed ordinance on June 13, 2000. The proposed <br />ordinance will be revised to have no specific reference to the <br />department collecting the tax for Indian River County. <br />13.E.2. COMMISSIONER TIPPIN- REPLACEMENT OF MEMBER <br />ON TOURIST DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL - RESIGNATION OF <br />SUSAN HARRIS - APPOINTMENT OF JUDY KING <br />Commissioner Tippin advised that Susan Harris had resigned from the Tourist Development <br />Council because of Sunshine Law concerns.
