RAUTH <br />STAFFED BY: OPERATIONS MANAGER p`2 <br />SUBJECT: UTILITY CHLORINATION SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On February 9, 1999, the Board of County Commissioners approved a Lease/Purchase Agreement <br />for the Clortec MC -600 Hypochlorite Generating System for the South County Wastewater <br />Treatment Plant. This Agreement commenced May 12, 1999 (see attached). <br />ANALYSIS: <br />As part of the earlier agenda item, the purchase of the unit in the amount of $197,000.00, less <br />cumulative lease payments, was to be brought back to the Board for approval only after the Plant <br />Operation staff was completely satisfied and the unit subsequently accepted. As verified in the <br />attached documentation from the Plant Operation staff, the Clortec MC -600 Hypochlorite Generating <br />System has performed to staff's satisfaction. Since the inception of the Lease(Purchase Agreement, <br />the Utility has made 11 lease payments in the amount of $6,000.00, totaling $66,000.00. The agreed <br />upon lease buyout amount for the Clortec MC -600 Hypochlorite Generating System is $131,000.00, <br />($197,000.00 - $66,000.00 = $131,000.00). <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br />accepts and approves the purchase and lease buyout of the Clortec MC -600 Hypochlorite Generating <br />System in the amount of $131,000.00. Funding will come from Account No. 471-000-169475.00. <br />JUNE 69 2000 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Ginn, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Stanbridge, the Board <br />unanimously approved and accepted the purchase <br />and lease buyout of the Clortec MC -600 <br />Hypochlorite Generating System in the amount of <br />$131,000, as recommended by staff. <br />-73- BOOK I ,1 C -9 <br />• <br />J <br />
