Francis A Coffev <br />5045 Fairways Circle #106 <br />Vero Beach FL 32967 <br />7,74-- /9a� <br />Mr. James Chandler <br />County Administrator <br />Dear Mr. Chandler, <br />June 14, 2000 <br />This is a request to be put on the County Commissioners' agenda for the June <br />20, 2000 meeting under " Public Discussion Items" to comment on the proposals <br />for the North County Recreation Complex. <br />Sincerely, <br />/ill. C,o� <br />Francis M. Coffey <br />Frank Coffey, 5045 Fairways Circle, presented concerns regarding the plans for the <br />proposed North County Recreation Complex which appears to be evolving into a theme park. <br />He pointed out the Board approved, about a year prior, using $3.45 million sales tax dollars. <br />The justification was that the north county desperately needs a recreational complex to house <br />a community center, meeting rooms, banquet facilities, a swimming pool, multi-purpose <br />fields for general usage, programmed facilities for gymnastics, dance, and so forth, because <br />the growth in the north county is demanding these facilities. The Board selected Brad Smith <br />& Associates to prepare a proposal for consideration. The record was not clear how or when <br />such changes were suggested. <br />Mr. Coffey reviewed Brad Smith's proposal and cost estimates of $5.4 million, which <br />June 20, 2000 <br />82 <br />
