REQUEST TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING DATE - <br />APPLICATION FORA CLASS E CERTIFICATE FROM WE CARE OF <br />THE TREASURE COAST TO PROVIDE NON -EMERGENCY BAKER <br />ACT INTERFACILITY AMBULATORY TRANSPORTS <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of June 9, 2000: <br />TO: The Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: James E. Chandler. Countv Administrator <br />FROM: Douglas M. Wright, Dirctor <br />Emergency Services <br />DATE: June 9. 2000 <br />SUBJECT: Request to set a Public Hearing date regarding an Application for a Certificate of <br />Public Convenience and Necessity for a Class E Certificate from We Care of the <br />Treasure Coast to Provide Non -Emergency Baker Act Interfacility Ambulatory <br />Transports <br />It is respectfully requested that the Board of County Commissioners schedule a public hearing for <br />July 11, 2000 pursuant to Chapter 304 of the Indian River County Code. for the purpose of <br />considering the application of We Care of the Treasure Coast to provide non -emergency Baker Act <br />interfacility ambulatory transports originating from Indian River County and terminating out of <br />county. <br />An application for a Class E Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide non- <br />emergency Baker Act interfacility ambulatory medical transport services was received from We Care <br />of the Treasure Coast on May 9', 2000. We Care of the Treasure Coast is requesting this certificate <br />to allow their units to transport Baker Act clients/patients from Indian River County facilities and <br />transport to out of county facilities. This would be for ambulatory patients only. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff requests the Board approve July 11. 2000 as the date to consider the application for a Class E <br />Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity filed by We Care of the Treasure Coast to provide <br />Baker Act transports. <br />June 20, 2000 <br />86 <br />
