Glynn, 1802 Barefoot Place, advised that he had acted as Chairman on the CR <br />510 East Committee that worked on the changes with staff. He thanked Directors Keating and <br />Boling and staff for all their help. He felt the finished product came out quite well and the committee <br />was happy with it in spite of not getting all they wanted. He stated the Commission has done a <br />wonderful job in cleaning up the north beach corridor. He was proud of the new Fire Station #11 <br />there which brings a service to the area which was badly needed. He mentioned an arch at the <br />entrance of one development in the corridor and hoped it would be corrected in the future. He spoke <br />of the continued development in that area and urged passage of the ordinance. <br />It was determined that no one else wished to be heard and the Chairman closed the public <br />hearing. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Ginn, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Stanbridge, to approve staffs recommendation <br />including the establishment of a North Barrier Island Corridor Plan <br />Task Force. <br />Chairman Adams clarified that the motion included the establishment of the task force. <br />Under discussion, Commissioner Tippin thought this ordinance was going beyond what local <br />government should legislate and someday they would have to draw the line. He quoted Director <br />Boling from the PZC minutes when he said, concerning log cabins, "This type of architecture is `out <br />of style. "' He felt that it was not the role of government to determine what is in style and what is not. r <br />He stated he would support the motion but was not happy with it. <br />July 18, 2000 <br />34 <br />
