Frame, General Services Director .-fLa vJ• �°`Ot'� <br />FROM: Mary Powell, Library Services Director" — <br />SUBJECT: Children's Grant Contracts <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Children's Librarian applied to the Division of Library and Information Services <br />seeking a `Born to Read" giant, which targets newborns and their parents. They have <br />awarded the project $6,754.00. This project is in cooperation with TLC (Touch, Love, <br />Communicate) Newborns, a division of the Indian River County Health Department, and <br />will offer quality, educational programs to new mothers of various ages and socio- <br />economic backgrounds. The emphasis of the project is on teen parents. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />Friends of the Library will provide $500.00 of the required $2,251.00 match. The <br />remaining $1,751.00 will come from the existing salary of the Children's Librarian Patti <br />Fuchs. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staffrespectfully requests that the Board authorize its Chairman to sign the contracts and <br />return to the Library Services Director to be forwarded to the appropriate state library <br />staff. <br />AUGUST 8, 2000 <br />-21- <br />BK 1 1 4 PG 475 <br />
