Consistency Summary <br />As part of its consistency analysis, staff compared the proposed amendments (including the <br />amendments associated with Post -Disaster Recovery and Redevelopment, and Clarification of the <br />Future Land Use Map) to all applicable objectives and policies in the plan and found no conflicts. <br />Therefore, the request is consistent with the comprehensive plan. <br />The proposed amendment updates the plan to better reflect current conditions and circumstances. <br />The proposed revisions eliminate policies that have been implemented, clarify the plan, and promote <br />agricultural businesses, tourism, and economic development. The revisions are reasonable and <br />consistent with the comprehensive plan. Staff supports the request. <br />uFrnMMFNDATLO N <br />Based on the analysis, staff and the Planning and Zoning Commission recommend that the Board <br />of County Commissioners adopt the proposed amendments shown on Attachment 2. <br />1. Transmittal Resolution <br />Director Keating advised of the proposed changes concerning Caribbean Fruit Fly <br />host plants, the clarification of the Future Land Use Map, utility service extension outside <br />the urban service area to agricultural businesses, post -disaster recovery and redevelopment, <br />optional agricultural PD's, and arts and culture. He described in detail two of the items,4.e., <br />optional agricultural PD's and arts and culture which he felt might be somewhat <br />controversial.
