1 <br />OATURDFAY, JANUARY 5th 1935. <br />The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met <br />at the Court House in Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Saturday, January 5th 1935, <br />with the following members of the Board presents J. J. P. Bamilton, Chai3 a.n; R. E. <br />ITudge and John ST-. Knight. Also present were Wm. Frick, Sheriff, Chas. A. Mitchell, <br />Attorney and 'Kiley Wnrren, Clerk. <br />The minutes of the regular and special meeting held in December 1934, were read <br />and approved. <br />Mr. Eaerson <br />appeared before the Board <br />regarding <br />an exla.ibit <br />of Indian. River. <br />County <br />at the festival <br />to be held in Fort Pierce. <br />The Board <br />agreed to <br />take this under <br />con - <br />sideration. <br />The Pothers Pension application of Mrs Bertha Morrison, widow, Vero Beach, was <br />received and carefully considered. It appearing she has 4 children dependent upon <br />her for support it was ordered that she be placed on the list to receive the sum of <br />x$10.00 per month. <br />It was ordered Mrs. F. A. Roddenberry, Gunter Beach, be placed on the pauper <br />list to receive the sum of $6.00 per month until the further ordetz, of the Board, <br />A <br />Notary Public bond of 0. 0. Simmer in the sum. of $500.00 with the American Surety <br />Company, a corporation, as surety %vas approved. <br />Bond <br />of Edwin A. Helseth, <br />as County Commissioner District <br />#5, in the sum of <br />A <br />02,000.00 <br />, <br />with National SLarety <br />Corporation, " a corporation, as <br />surety was approved. <br />As provided by law €a list of Confederate pensioners was received from the State <br />Comptroller and was carefully checked over by the Board and found to be correct,with <br />the exception of Jas C. Kinard of DeSoto City, Florida, who is a resident of Highlands <br />County. <br />Piss Leila Bunkley brought before the Board the question of Mahalia Morton, now <br />i n gest Palm Beach, whose ailment has been diagnosed as Tuberculosis, and requested <br />that this County take care of her. The Board declined to asstime responsibility of <br />this case. <br />The following resolutionwas introduced by Commissioner Mudge, who moved its <br />adoption: <br />1 1AS the lags of Florida now permit the sale of liquor and alcoholic beverages <br />and require the payment of an occupational license tax by persons engaged in the sale <br />of such liquors; <br />TH�H EFORE,, BE IT RESOLVED, that the official or officials charged with the coll- <br />ection of such license be requested to immediately attempt collection of such license <br />from all persons engaging in such occupation .and upon non-payment thereof to immediately <br />report the same to the proper officials charged with the enforcement of the criminal <br />statutes for such non-payment; 9 <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all County officials vdiose duties concern the coll- <br />ection of said occupational license and the enforcement of penalties for the non-pay- <br />ment thereof, be requested to co-operate in enforcing payment of said licenses. <br />The above resolution being duly seconded the same was unanimously adopted. <br />A <br />
