Paragraph 14.01 now reads as follows: <br />The Employer will ... . • . . . . allocate <br />sufficient funds to provide an initial allotment, and replacement in <br />accordance with Article 14.02, for trousers (style to be determined by <br />management), shirts, t -shirts, short -sleeve and long -sleeve polo shirts, shoes, <br />hats, .. • • , • , job shirts, jumpsuits, cap, badge and <br />name plate. The Employer also will provide protective clothing and <br />devices; bunker coat and bunker pants made of Nomex or similar material, <br />boots, helmets, shatter -resistant face shield, gloves, safety glasses for <br />welding and metal cutting, and any other safety equipment deemed <br />necessary by management. <br />The Chairman called for a break at 11:09 a.m., and reconvened the meeting <br />at 11:17 a.m., with all members present. <br />B. Article 15 — Safety and Health <br />11:17 <br />a.m. The Board sought and received information and clarification from the <br />Attorneys during their presentations on safety and health. <br />Management and Budget Director Jason Brown explained the process of a <br />workers' compensation claim and the testing involved. He stated that last <br />week, his office resolved the scope of testing to be performed by the outside <br />Workers' Compensation Council, and noted that it was scheduled for the <br />near future. <br />Chairman Davis agreed that the language in the contract was vague; stated <br />that the mold in the fire stations was inexcusable; and was not convinced <br />that the proposed language would help the situation. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner O'Bryan, SECONDED by Vice <br />Chairman Solari, to adopt the County's proposal on Paragraph 15.01, as <br />unchanged and shown in Exhibit I to the County Administrator's <br />recommendation. <br />Discussion ensued regarding funding issues, concerns that it took three <br />months to hold the workplace safety committee meeting, and the language <br />that the Union wanted added to Paragraph 15.01. <br />The following individuals spoke in support of adding additional safety and <br />health language to Article 15: <br />Kurt Vroman <br />Roger Van Kramer <br />Peter Hesby <br />John Wallace <br />Dustin Hawkins <br />Impasse Hearing <br />March 20, 2015 Page 10 <br />
