ARTICLE 16 <br />HOURS <br />16.01 A. Non -shift employees shall normally be assigned to a 37 1/2 hour work week <br />and shall be paid time -and -one-half for all hours worked in excess of 40 <br />hours in their work week. Shift employees shall be assigned to a schedule of <br />24 hours on duty followed by 48 hours off duty, and shall be paid time -and - <br />one -half for all hours worked in excess of 212 hours in their 28 -day FLSA <br />work period. Overtime shall be calculated in accordance with current <br />practice. <br />B. Non -fire certified ALS shift employees shall be assigned to a schedule of 24 <br />hours on duty followed by 48 hours off duty, and shall be paid time and one <br />half for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours in their 7 day work period. <br />C. As non -firefighter certified ALS employees become firefighter certified, they <br />will be placed on the 28 -day FLSA work period in accordance with 16.01 A. <br />and their pay will be converted to the appropriate pay scale in Article 34, <br />effective the first day of the next 28 -day cycle. If the employee starts <br />working as a dual certified employee prior to the next 28 -day cycle, then the <br />County will pay them $25. Additionally, those employees will be eligible for <br />"Kelly Days" as outlined in 16.02. The Kelly Day may be authorized during <br />the cycle at the time of promotion at the discretion of management. If the <br />Department is unable to authorize the Kelly day, the employee will receive 12 <br />hours of leave placed in their vacation bank. <br />16.02 All FLSA 207(k) exempt shift employees will be granted three (3) "Kelly Days" to be <br />scheduled in such a way that one (1) "Kelly Day" is allowed each four (4) months of <br />the fiscal year. Such time off shall be scheduled. Employees on light duty, while <br />assigned to an administrative shift (i.e., 37.5 hours, Monday - Friday), shall not be <br />25 <br />
