1 <br />ft <br />I� <br />DNES'DAY, MUCH 25th ,1936. <br />The Board of County Uommissi.oners in and f or Indian Hirer County, Florida, met at the <br />Court House in Vero Beach, at 2:00 o'clock P. X. Wednesday, March 25th 1936, with the foll- <br />owing members of the Board presents J.J.P.Ramilton, Chairman; R jw.mudge; Frank C. Vickers; <br />F. P. Thole and Hnwin A. helsetn. ,also present were miles Marren, Clerx and Mai Frick, <br />Sheriff . <br />The bond of x. H. Williams, as a Deputy Sherirr in the scam of V19000.00 with National <br />surety Corporation, a corporation, as surety was approved. <br />The following resolution was introduced: <br />HN SOLUT T O.N <br />OBIREAS, Peculiar and seasonal conditions exist in the Mate of Florida with regard <br />to employment in that employment is more general in Florida in the winter months and de- <br />creases greatly in the summer months by reason of the fact that the State has no tourist <br />business, no citrus production, and no truck farming during said period; and <br />911N;REAS indications are that there will be serious unemployment in the State, o-;' Florida <br />during the late spring and the summer months of 1936 and in fact to such a serious extent <br />that Indian River Uounty, Florida, and the communities therein located will be unable to <br />meet the necessary and absolutely minimum demands and needs for relief; and, <br />wBEREA:S the vlorks Progress Administration program or the Federal government has been <br />invaluable means of giving relief in : radian diver County, Florida, and in working out the <br />relief program in said County and that without the operations of said works Progress <br />Administration a most dangerous and unsatisfactory situation would have developed in the <br />past and will develop in the late spring and the summer months of 1936, and <br />VfEEREAS in addition to providing rol acute problem or relief and unemployment, <br />works Progress Administration has been of great assistance to Indian River County, Florida <br />in securing Uhd providing much needed roads and other permanent and necessary improvements <br />which would not otherwise have been procurable by said County; therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, being the <br />legally constituted governing body of said county, does herewith endorse the works Progress <br />administration program of the Federal government as an absolutely essential means of giving <br />relief and employment in said County and does earnestly petition and request an immediate <br />and generous allotment of additional funds to be used through said Works Progress Adminis- <br />tration for meeting the unemployment situation in Indian River County, Florida and parti- <br />cularly during the late spring and the sumer months of 1936. <br />The motion for the adoption or the resolution being duly seconded the roll was called <br />and the same was unanimously adopted. <br />There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried the Board then <br />adjourned. <br />ATTEST: <br />C e rk . <br />
