<br />The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited, were examined and
<br />found correct, were approved and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. such bills
<br />and accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk Circuit Court. The warrants so issued
<br />from the respective funds being listed completely in the County finance record as provided by
<br />law, reference to said record and the list so recorded being made a part of these minutes.
<br />1. Miss Belson representing the state welfare Board appeared before the Board of County
<br />Commissioners and outlined the plan for providing Old Age Pensions to persons over the"age of
<br />70 years, and after thoroughly discussing the same, the following resolution was offered and
<br />unanimously* adopted:

<br />Florida under the administration of the State Board of Social Welfare, and
<br />MMEE", It Is required of each Board of County 00=18sion9re in the State as a
<br />condition preoendent to the Mate plan becoming effective, that a resolution be passed fiv,
<br />the authority of the Board to enforce against the estates of deceased persons who have been
<br />supported at public expense claims to the extent of the public assistance given them through
<br />the State Board of Social Welfare, and
<br />WBERUS8 It is desirable that the State plan be placed in operation as expedi
<br />-ly as possible so that the Federal Goverment win begin its contributions affid therebB Make,
<br />Svailmble additional money in each County in the State for old age assistance,
<br />HOW, THE REFCH, , BE IT RESOLVED By the Board of County 000013830ners of Indian
<br />River Gounty, Florid®, in session duly assembled, that the Burd does hereby waive its
<br />authority to enforce against the estates of deceased persons who have been supported at
<br />expense by old age assistance administered through the State Board of Social Welfare claims
<br />to the extent of the public assistance furnished by the State Beard to such persons.
<br />WHEREAB, the State Board of Social Welfare bas presented to the Social Security
<br />Beard of the United Stttes,' created under the Social Security Act of the Congress, approved
<br />August 149 1935, being 4E U. S. C. A, 301, a State plan for old age assistance, which plan
<br />has been approved by the Social Security Board, and,
<br />WMUM"s in order to place the State plan in operation, and in order for the
<br />dependent aged citizens of this County to receive the benefits of the State plan, Sieh in -
<br />eludes the matching of funds in an equal amount by the Federal Government, it In desirable.
<br />and necessary for tble Board to make an appropriation of funds to the State Board of Social
<br />Welfare for old age assistance for the gmrter year beginning July 1, 19369 and ending
<br />September 30, 1936.
