<br />TUBjR Y, SFTEMBER lot 1936.
<br />The Board of County Conuissioners in and for indian River County, Florida, met at the
<br />Court House in Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, September lst 1936, with the
<br />following members of the Board present: J.J.Y-Hamilton 9 Chairman; R. S. Mudge; E. P. Poole,
<br />and Edwin A. Helseth. Absent Frank C. Vickers. .Also present were wm. Frick, Sheriff ,
<br />Chas. A. Mitchell, attorney for the Board and Miles warrens Clerk.
<br />Mrs Ralph Ashburn, widow, Fellemere appeared before the Board and advised that she had
<br />a position in Alabama, but was unable to get to the point to work. :it was ordered that the
<br />sum of 625.00 be appropriated out of the General Revenue fund to assist her in getting located
<br />in permanent work, and that the warrant be issued to C. P. Diamond, Attorney, who is looking
<br />after and assisting in getting her properly located.
<br />Mrs Sophie xo sbottom, Chairman of the County .Manning Board appeared and inquired about
<br />a road program of the County. She was advised that this Board had been informed that nothing
<br />can be done except in localities where it is made to appear people cannot secure labor and
<br />work for their livelihood. Bre Kosbottom requested that an appropriation be made to cover cost
<br />of postage and stationery in connection with her work. it was ordered that the sum of :5..00
<br />be appropriated for this necessary expenditure.
<br />Mi ss Alice Helseth. Federal Narse appeared before the Board and presented applications for
<br />Mothers Pensions of several applicants. The Board, after fully discussing the applications,
<br />taking into consideration the condition of the respective applicants, it was ordered that the
<br />following be placed on the Mothers Pension list to receive the amount indicated:
<br />Mrs. Cassie Conniff, winter Beach, 010.00 per month
<br />Mrs. Mary J. Law, Vero Beach, * 8.00 per month
<br />Mrs Jessie Yates, Vero Beach, appeared before the Board and requested aid from the County
<br />to assist in sending her children to school during the approaching term. :fib action was teen.
<br />Mrs Floyd McCall, Gifford, presented a bill for attending John H. McLean, in the sum of
<br />$10.00. it was ordered that the bill be paid and the sum of 1;10.00 only be appropriated for
<br />McLean for the month of September 1936.
<br />The Notary Public bond of Charles C. Jewett in the sum of X500.00 with the &merican Surety
<br />Company, a corporation, as surety was approved.
<br />`.rhe Notary Public bond of Josephine Shearer in the sum of *500.00 with American Surety
<br />Company, a corporation, was approved.
<br />Miss Manilla Wells, Home Demonstration agent for the past year appeared before the Board
<br />and made a verbal report of all her activities and requested that an appropriation be made
<br />for the next Tical year beginning October lot to carry on the work. The Board advised Miss
<br />Wells that the budget for the next year had already been prepared, finally adopted and approved
<br />and no change can now be made therein.
<br />Felix C. Poppell appeared before the Board urging that additional grounds be purchased by
<br />the County for .cemetery purposes at the Minter Beach cemetery. He was advised the Board lwill
<br />make the purchase.
<br />it was ordered that warrant be drawn on the General Revenue Fund in the sum of jk 414.00
<br />payable to the Board of Social velfare, -State of Florida# and transmissted to Conrad Van Hyning,
<br />Chairman of such Board, Jacksonville, Ylorida, to meet old age pensions for the period uctober
<br />let to January lot 1937, to be paid in this County. The Board after carefully considering the
<br />ages and necessity for assistapop, ordered that the following persons be paid the amount
<br />indicated:
