218 <br />Application of the Welch Child of Vabasso, Florida, for free admittance to Florida <br />School for the Deaf and the Blind at St. Augustine,- Florida, was approved. <br />Mr. R. R. Martin, Ft. Fierce, Florida, appeared before the.-B.oard_.and. reported he had <br />attended a State Road Department budget meeting in Tallahassee, Florida, and requested that a <br />representative of this County meet with the State Road Department -at the.next-budget meeting <br />to be held in Orlando on the 18th. of Burch with regards to requesting.monies to be included in <br />said budget for the purpose of conducting a road survey on the Peninsula through Indian River <br />County. Mr. Martin stated that he would be glad to go to Miami.with_a representative from this <br />County to present a W.P.A. Project,of Widening out and grading the Peninsula road,. before the <br />proper committee and do every thing possible in order to get said project approved. It was <br />moved by Edwin A. Helseth, seconded by S. B. Glover andcarried_ that a_maa be appointed to pre- <br />pare such a project and to see that proper representation be made before W. P.A. officials at <br />Miami with regard to the above mentioned road. <br />Bir. C. C. Braswell appeared before the Board and requested cancellation of a certian <br />mortgage on lot S. block 14, Vero Beach Estates and explained.the.existing circumstances to <br />the Board in connection with said mortgage. It was moved by S. E. Glover, seconded by Edwin A. <br />Helseth and carried that the Board would not satisfy said mortgage unless payment in full is <br />made. The Board then referred the matter to Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney, for investagation <br />with the possibilty of realizing anything on the mortgage. <br />Son. Geo. W. Walters, Justice of Peace filed coroners report on W. H. Garns, Elbert <br />McCullers and Cornelius Wallace, said report was read to the Board and Filed in the office of <br />the Clerk of the .Circuit Court. <br />Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney,reported thathehad written -to.Hon. Cary A. Landis, <br />Attorney General, with regard to a opinionas to whether or --not the -Board should furnish cer- <br />Xain forms, books and supplies for the office of Justice. of Peace and..that the Attorney General <br />refused to rull on this point.. Mr. Bii.tchll further stated that no clear statments in the Stat- <br />utes regarding the furnishing of forms, books and supplies for Justice of Peace office could be <br />found. <br />It was ordered that S. F. Owens, Vero Beach be removed from the Paupwrs list as he is <br />now receiving State aid for the Blind. <br />It was ordered that John Smith, Fellsmere, be removed from the Paupers list. <br />It was ordered that M. L. Lisle, Winter Beach, and Nelson Hilliard, Sebastian, be <br />placed on the Paupers list each to receive the sum of $10.00 per month, until the further <br />of the Board. <br />Hon. Eli C. Walker and other representatives of the Drainage District appeared before <br />the Board and requested that when it became necessary to repair County bridges in the future <br />that said bridges be repaired and reinforced in such manner that it would be safe to move- the <br />Drainage District machinery and/or equiptment over said bridges. On motion made by Frank C. <br />Vickers, seconded by S. E. Glover and carried this request was granted and Frank A. Knight Road <br />Superintendent was <br />so ordered <br />with the understanding <br />that the Drainage District would be re- <br />sponsible for the <br />cost of'the <br />extra material such as <br />sills, sleepers, pilins, stringers, caps <br />that would be necessary to reinforce and strengthen the bridges as requested by the committee <br />from the Drainage District, <br />Frank A. Wight, Road Superintendent, called attention to the Board that .load limit <br />signs should be prepared and placed on County bridges, the Board then instructed Mr, Knight to <br />have these signs prepared .and placed on the Bridges. <br />Barr.. A. L. Bickers a property owner in Wabasso, appeared before the Board with,regard <br />to a closed road"on'or near his property.
