Judge, Otis M. Cobb appeared before the Board and reported that he had been informed <br />a fire had distroyed a small house near Roseland, Florida. He further stated that the owner of <br />said property claimed damages of $500.00 which was represented as fire damage to said dwelling• <br />and garage and also to citrus trees. The -fire was reported to have occured approximately <br />March 10, 1938, at which time the County Road Crew was reported working in that vicinity. <br />Charles A. Mitchell, attorney, was requested to make an investigation and report back to the <br />Board. <br />Miss Leila M. A. Davis of the State <br />Board of Heath-- 525 families were sent containers by School Children - <br />Eight (8) classes were conducted in Home Hygiene and care of the sick at the Winter <br />Beach School. �. <br />An application for Mother's Pension of Mrs. Claudia Beasley, Fellsmere, Florida, was <br />approved for the sum of $10.00 per month until the further order of the Board. <br />Cdr. R. S. Miller representing the Florida National Exhibits, Inc. appeared before <br />the Board and requested the sum of $850.00 be appropriated in the 1938-1939 Budget. <br />Commissioner, C. S. Michael introduced the following resolution and moved its adop- <br />tion, to -wit: <br />R E S 0 L U T Y 0 N <br />WHEREAS, an opportunity is offered Indian River County to exploit, publicize, adver- <br />tise and otherwise advance the horticultural, agricultural,.commercial and other interests of <br />Indian River County thru the display of agricultural products, industrial products, dioramas <br />other display materials by a public showing at a leading Fair or Exposition to be held in the <br />State of Florida during the tourist season of 1939; and , <br />WHEREAS, the agency best.fitted to properly design, create, operate and maintain said <br />Exhibit for said County is FLORIDA NATIONAL EXHIBITS, INC., a non-profit corporation created <br />under the Laws of Florida for the purpose of designing, constructing, maintaining and operating <br />Exhibits and Displays on behalf of the State of Florida and its citizens at important FAIRS and <br />EXPOSITIONS, as evidenced by the past five years of successful operations at Chicago, New York <br />and Cleveland; and <br />WHEREAS, Race Tract and Gasoline taxes accruing to this County have been greatly in- <br />creased as the result of FloridaIs participation in the aforesaid Expositions; and <br />WHEREAS, al%].ines of business in the State of Florida have been benefitted as a re- <br />sult of said Florida State Exhibits; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLWED that We, as and constituting the Board of County Com- <br />missioners of Indian River County, DO AGREE to employ as our agents, FLORIDA NATIONAL EXHIBITS, <br />INC., in designing, preparing, exhibiting and operating the aforementioned exhibits for display <br />at a leading Fair or Exposition to be held in the State of Florida during the Winter Season of <br />1939, and that we provide the cost of said exhibit thru inclusion in the General fund of Indian <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
