<br />- E. E. Carter, Road Superintendent was authorized and instructed to prepare W. P. A.
<br />Project, obtain cost of installing telephone at county barn, estimate cost of extending Power
<br />line to county barn both from the City of Vero Beach and the Florida Power and Light Company,
<br />to purchase tires for trucks, approximately 30 squares of used sheet iron to repair top of
<br />county barn, aAd`to purchase pipe for,^artesian well on minter Beach Cemetary Project.
<br />Douglas Baker, Clerk was instructed to write Mr. Harry A. Meyers, W. P. A. Supervisor,
<br />West Palm Beach, Florida, requesting that local W. P. A. Project # 11 be opened as soon as
<br />possible. 11
<br />On motion made by W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by Albert 0. Helseth and unanimously
<br />carried, E. E. Carter,'Road Superintendent was instructed to proceed with the grading. and marl -
<br />Ing of the Road south df the School building, which is a continuattion of 18th street, and to
<br />fill in the ditch running parallel with said road as soon as convenient.
<br />The Board agreed to grade a road in southwest corner of this county, known as Moore
<br />road, provided Okeechobee County would clean the right of way and remove stumps.
<br />Messrs. R. J. Young, A. M. Hill and A. M. Hill, Jr., appeared before the Board and
<br />requested financial assistance for the maintenance and operation of the growers fire truck.
<br />After considerable discussion on motion made by W. C., Graves, Jr., seconded by Albert 0. Helset
<br />and unanimously carried it was ordered the sum of $250.00 be paid from the funds of Pero -Quay
<br />Bridge District to the Indian River Fire,Protective Association for maintenance and operation,
<br />including labor, gas and oil of the growers fire truck for fire protection of public bridges an
<br />culverts in the Vero and quay -,,-Bridge Districts.
<br />The following Road Petition was received, read and filed.

<br />We, the undersigned, citizens of the County of Indian River, State of Florida, res -
<br />pectfully represent -that the necessities of,thb, public require a County Road to be laid out as
<br />follows, to -wit: commencing at
<br />A public road right-of-way being 50 ft. in Width and lying 25 ft.,on either side of
<br />the following described center -line:
<br />From the Southeast corner of the N. W. J.of the S. E,. J of Sec. 28 - Twp. 31 - Range
<br />39 run N. 740 - 159 E. a distance of 845 ft. to point of beginning. Thence .run N. 23. - 15' W.
<br />759.7.5 ft. thence run N. 27°iQ 15t W. 352.5 ft. thence run N. 30° - 451 W. 0632.1 ft. thence run
<br />V4,270 Q4 301 W. 948.35 ft, to the North line of Government lot 2 of;above Sec., Twp., & Range.
<br />The above described road being known as the John Massey Road in Wabasso, Indian River
<br />County, Florida.
<br />Said Road right-of-way to be not less than fifty feet in width.
<br />We therefore petition your honorable body to cause to be laid out and opened a Qounty
<br />Road as above describdd, and w9, the owners of the land through which said Road is sought to be
<br />laid but, in consideration of the sum of one dollar to us.each and severally in hand paid by t
<br />said County of Indian River, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hereby agree to give

<br />the right-of-way through our lands, as shown by the plat accompanying this petition, and re-
<br />linquish all claims for damage by reason thereof.
