r12 <br />n <br />`v <br />COUNTY'RESOLUTION URGING ADOPTION OF GAS TAX AMENDMENT <br />Commissioner Graves" -introduced thee._:fo�lov#ing resolution, and moved its adoption to - <br />wit: <br />VMREAS, the 1941 Florida Legislature, by Senate Joint Resolution 324, proposed an <br />amendment to the State Constitution authorizing for a period of 50 years beginning January 1, <br />1943, the distribution -to the several counties of the proceeds of 2 cents per gallon of the <br />present State tag on gasoline and other motor vehicle fuel, pro rated among the counties acc- <br />ording to their respective areas, populations and adounts contributed by them for State road <br />construction, each county's pro rata share of such taxes as they accrue to be used by the <br />State Board of Administration for the retirement (including the setting up of adequate sink - <br />Ing funds) of county and road and bridge district road and bridge bonds, with any surpluses of <br />j. such taxes not required annually for such debt service to be used 80% for the construction of <br />state roads in the county and/or for the freeing of toll bridges in the county, and 20% for <br />the construction and maintenance of county roads; and <br />AREAS, the outstanding county and special road and bridge road bond indebtedness, <br />both principal and interest of Indian river County is the sum of two million three hundred <br />eighty thousand ten ($2,380,010.00, dollars and no cents and during the life of the Constitut- <br />ional Amendment it is estimated there Will accrue to the County the sum of Four million five <br />hundred thirteen thousand five hundred sixty-seven dollars and eighty-three cents (4,513,567.86); <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is apparent that said amendment provides ample revenue to retire the <br />bonded indebtedness of Indian Rider County, with considerable surpluses over for public road <br />purposes within the County; and <br />SAS, if the amendment it adopted at the General Election held November 3, 1942, <br />said revenues will be irrevocably pledged for the purposes stated, and will result in reliev- <br />Ing the real and personal property taxpayers of the County of road bond debt service levies and <br />will in due time provide large sums for the construction and maintenance of county roads, <br />'TOW, TREREFuRE, tsg IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian=- River <br />County that it is the considered judgment of said Board that it is to the best interests of <br />Indian River County that said Constitutional Amendment be adopted, and it hereby urges the <br />adoption of said Amendment at the General Election in November this year, because it will <br />relieve for a period of 50 years the levy of taxes in Indian River County on real and person- <br />al property for said outstanding county and district road bonds an d w ill provide additional <br />revenues, for county road and bridge construction and maintenance. <br />Said resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner Vickers and upon being put to a <br />vote the same was unanimously adopted. <br />Liquor licence application for David McGill, colored, Fellsmere was received and <br />temporarily passed until all members of the Board are present. <br />Application of Louis Davidson (Blue Front) for a license to sell intoxicating liq- <br />uors, wines and beer was received and after carefully considering the same, on motion made, <br />seconded and carried the same was approved. <br />Miss Leila M.
