i 1! <br />The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited, were examiaedi, <br />,and found correct, were approved and warrants issued in settlement of same. M. Tuesday, February 1, 19449 in regular meeting with the <br />following members of the Board present: W. C. Graves, Jr., Chairman: S. E. Glover, Frank C. <br />Vickers, Albert 0. Helseth and G. E. Barkoskie. Also present were Vm. W. Frick, Sheriff, <br />,;Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney for the Board, and Douglas Baker, Clerk. <br />I <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />i; <br />Douglas Baker, Clerk, reported $1,000.00 received from the United States Navy for <br />11 damage to county barn by an aeroplane on October 23, 1943, and the same was deposited in the <br />I, Road and Bridge Fund. <br />f <br />It was moved by Frank C. Vickers, seconded by Albert 0. Helseth and unanimously <br />carried, that the Vero Beach Press Journal, a newspaper of general circulation, published in <br />Indian River County, Florida, and which newspaper has' -been continuously published in said <br />County for a period of more than one year prior to this date, be and it is hereby selected and <br />designated by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County as the newspaper in whichi <br />shall be published the list of lands to be advertised and sold by the Tax Collector of Indian <br />River County and which selection is required under the provisions of Section 969 Compiled <br />General Laws of Florida; and that said newspaper be designated for the publication of such other: <br />a legal notices as may be required to be designated by said Board of County Commissioners. J <br />Notary Public Bond for Virginia Nye in the sum of $500.00 with American Surety Compaq.* <br />of New York as surety, was approved. <br />Sheriff Frick paid to the county the sum of $632.37 representing Excess Fees from his'' <br />Ii office for the calendar year 1943 and the same deposited in the County Officer's Excess Fee <br />-Fund. <br />!I <br />At the request of Mr..E..G. Thatcher, the Board agreed to permit the city to borrow <br />!i the county vacuum cleaner for use in the Community Building for the purpose of cleaning rugs, <br />u� <br />etc. <br />h! The Board authorized payment of $300.00 to the Chamber of Commerce from the General <br />Ip <br />Revenue Fund for advertisement and publicity purposes in behalf of Indian River County,and also <br />I an emergency contribution because of the war situation in the sum of $200.00, aggregating $500. <br />As provided by law, the Tension Department furnished this Board with a list of <br />Pensioners, namely, Mrs. Annie Ruffner and Etta G.
