and was ordered filed as a part of the Public Records of Indian River County.
<br />Chief Pierce, representing Veterans of Foreign Wars, appeared before the Board and
<br />verbally withdrew their recommendation of Dr. Leckie, and recommeed the appointment of
<br />Thomas W. Cobb as County Servive Officer of Indian River County. .
<br />Glen Snodgrass, also, appeared before the Board and made brief remarks concerning the
<br />qualifications, etc., or both applicants, Dr. Luckie and Thomas W. Cobb.
<br />Judge J. W. Boring was also present and expressed his opinion regarding the County
<br />Service Officer.
<br />After carefully considering the same, motion was made by S. E. Glover, seconded by
<br />R. W. Graves and unanimously carried that Thomas W. Cobb be appointed County Service Officer,
<br />effective November 1, 1945, to receive compensation of $200.00 per month, representing salary,
<br />plus an amount not to exceed $25.00 per month for other miscelleanous expenses in connection
<br />with the office of County Service Officer.
<br />On motion made by Commissioner Vickers, seconded by Commissioner Glover, a committee
<br />consisting of W. C. Graves, Jr., Charles A. Mitchell and E. E. Carter, were appointed to obtain!
<br />the services of an architect for the purpose of preparing plans for an addition to the County
<br />Jail.
<br />The Board authorized County Engineer, E. E. Carter, to contact pity officials of
<br />Fellsmere regarding work on streets within the City of Fellsmere, aspreviouslydiscussed.
<br />A letter was received from the Fellsmere Development Corporation with regard to sur-
<br />veying and further grading a road extending from the present Lateral 0'. Road, in the Fellsmere
<br />area, south to State Road No. 30. The contents of the letter explained the vatious reasons
<br />as to why the road is so badly needed. The Board concurred favorably as to the need of said
<br />proposed road and a committee consisting of E. E. Carter, County Engineer, and Charles A.
<br />Mitchell, Attorney, was appointed to proceed with plans for the constriction of this road to
<br />include preliminary surveys of rights -of -ways. It was brought-outthatcthez1rtter, of course,
<br />would be the first to receive consideration' and action and that the actial grading of the
<br />road would have to be done at a later date.
