<br />1946 or until.the further orders of the Board.
<br />At the request of Sheriff O'Steen and State Patrolman Silsby the following resolution,,,
<br />was adopted.
<br />The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner S. Be Glover who.moved its

<br />WHEREAS, reports have been made to the County Commissioners of Indian River Countyly
<br />the Sheriff of said County abd state highway patrolmen stationed in said County and by citi-

<br />aens of the County which have caused said/Commissioners to determine that by reason of traffic,',
<br />conditions and by reason --of congestion of residential and business construction along the high-
<br />way hereinafter mentioned, there exists conditions under which the operation of motor vehicles';!
<br />on State Road No. 4, between the north Gifford Road and the south bondary line of the McKee
<br />.
<br />Jungle Garden property in Indian.River County at a speed in excess of 35 miles per hour is dan-,
<br />r
<br />gerous and that a reasonable and safe speed limit on State Road No. 4 within said area is not
<br />to exceed 35 miles per hour; therefore,
<br />BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County here-
<br />with requests State Road Department of Florida, to determine, under the provisions of Section
<br />317.24 of the Florida statutes,whether or not the determination aforesaid of the Board of
<br />County Commissioners of Indian River County is sound and proper, and if such fact shall be
<br />determined by said State Road Department, then to declare a reasonable and safe speed limit inf,',
<br />ii
<br />said area and to make the same effective by erecting appropriate signs giving notice thereof
<br />as to all operations in said area under the jurisdiction of said State Road Department.
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of this Board forward certified copies of this g,

<br />Resolution to the State Road Department of Florida.

<br />Motion for the adoption of the resolution was seconded by Commissioner R. We Graves

<br />Chairman Graves, speaking for the County on the Indiarr,River Fire Protective Associa-1
<br />tion, reported that the Association agreed to leave the proposition as it is with the under- .1
<br />standing that the County would appropriate a sum not to exceed $1.500.00 for the year 19461
<br />•
<br />said sum to be expended in the behalf of the Indian River County Fire Protective Associations �f
<br />for purchase of and maintenance of equipment and or for salaries for an additional fireman to
<br />be employed and further that representatives at Fellsmera ®end Sebastian would be requested to
<br />cooperate with the County, together with Be- Be Carter, County Engineer.
<br />Alice Helleso, County Nurse, appeared before the Board and made a verbal and written
<br />report of her activities for the month of Decembers said written report being filed in the
<br />Clerk's Office.
<br />In compliance with the law the following named persons were selected from Indian
<br />River County to serve as Jurors for the year 1946 to -wit: (being riot less than 250 or more
